How do I make my Garmin watch automatically start my activities?

To enable automatic start of an activity through the Garmin Connect app, follow these general steps. Note that the available options may vary slightly depending on your Garmin device model and app version:

  1. Open the Garmin Connect app: Launch the Garmin Connect app on your smartphone. Make sure your watch is connected to your phone via Bluetooth to enable syncing.

  2. Go to Menu: Find the menu or menu icon (often represented by three horizontal lines or a gear) and tap it.

  3. Select Your Device: Go to the device settings by selecting “Garmin Devices” or a similar option. Next, choose your watch from the list of paired devices.

  4. Find Activity Settings: Look for an option that relates to activities or workout apps, like "Activity Settings" or "Apps & Activities." Select the activity for which you want to enable autostart.

  5. Enable Auto Start: Look for an autostart-related option, such as “Auto Start,” “Auto Start,” or something similar, and enable it. You might have additional options to configure according to your preferences, such as the delay before automatic start or the conditions necessary to trigger the start.

  6. Backup and Synchronize: After enabling and configuring autostart, be sure to back up your settings. The app should automatically sync these changes to your Garmin watch. If synchronization is not automatic, you can trigger it manually via the app.

If you can't find the autostart option in Garmin Connect, it may mean that your specific model of Garmin watch does not support this feature through the Garmin Connect app. In this case, try setting this option directly on your watch, as described in my previous answer, or check if a firmware update is available for your device that could add or change this feature.

It's also helpful to consult your watch's user manual or Garmin online support for instructions specific to your model.
